European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training Selection Process
The programme is advertised at ECDC website, the EPIET website and through the EPIET network. All applications are received at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, in Stockholm, Sweden. The applications have to be sent to ECDC before 10 February 2008, at 24.00 CET.For applications to be valid, you must submit by email
- A detailed curriculum vitae in European format (available in http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu)
- A letter of motivation;
- The eligibility and selection criteria grid completed (see vacancy notice at http://ecdc.europa.eu/Recruitment.html)
First Round
On 11 February 2008, EPIET/ECDC administration reviews the applications for eligibility. Eligible applications are forwarded to the countries of the candidates’ nationality. Countries are requested to interview at least three candidates, and advise ECDC on two applications they will support. This expert opinion should reach EPIET/ECDC selection committee at latest by 9 March 2008. The applicants and host sites will be informed from the beginning of any ineligibilities in terms of placement.Second Round
The EPIET/ECDC selection committee will review and rank the CVs of all eligible applicants, in order to decide on the invitations to the third round of face-to-face interviews. Results are sent to applicants around 28 March 2008. Invited applicants are asked to send in a list of their three preferred host institutes. These ranked lists from applicants must be at ECDC by 27 April 2008 at the latest. The available host institute will receive the application documents of the applicants interested in their site as preparation for the placement round. In this process, all invited applicants are strongly encouraged to contact EPIET host institute supervisors and alumni.Third Round - "Face-to-Face"
The third round, consisting of interviews with invited applicants will be organised 12-14 May 2008 in the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in Stockholm. Travels cost will be funded by the ECDC. This round has three phases:1. Selection interviews: The EPIET/ECDC selection committee will interview and rank all invited applicants and select applicants that will go on to the second phase.
2. Placement interviews: selected applicants will participate in interviews with host sites representatives, in order to come to a preference ranking for placements. At the end of these interviews applicants will submit their final ranking preference for their placement. Similarly, host sites will submit the preference ranking of applicants to be placed in their institute.
3. Placement round: Final matching of host institutes and applicants. Following face-to-face interviews, the ECDC/EPIET selection committee consults the experts of the EPIET training sites and the scientific programme coordinators, before making a selection and placement proposal of applicants to be presented to the Director of ECDC. The Director will decide on the selection of applicants and the placement proposal. The result of this decision will be sent to applicants by mid - June 2008.
Taking up post
Please note that the successful applicants will be required to take up fellowship on 16 September 2008, when the programme starts. No later starting date is foreseen.Please note that dates are subject to change.
